Jack was a dog considered to be a champion
though he stayed locked away in the finest cage
his masters only thoughts were those of profit
so he had dreams that took him far away.
No one knows the details of his escape
he ran off through the country wild and free
it wasn't long before he lost his way
and hunger took him where he came to be
Jack came to a house that lived a kind man
love was all that this man knew to do
The dog was loved and fed and now was called Dan
Dan felt as if his dreams had come true
One day the old master was driving down the road
he saw Dan running through the yard
he turned around and headed up the driveway
he called out Jack but all Dan did was bark
The kind man came outside and was confronted
the predicament to both men was unclear
agreement struck and this was decided
to call out his name and say come here
three whole yrs and Jack was never really happy
for two weeks now Dan felt brand new
they called his name and said come here boy
now which man do you think the dog went to
Spoken:
The kind old man said to me you sure he's your dog
from where I stand it doesn't seem to be
I was blown away by what I saw
But I know now why Jack didn't come to me
Singing Again:
Since then me and the old man have become friends
and old Dan still roams around in his yard
I drop by from time to time to see them
It's plain to see old Dan's a happy dog
The old man really rubbed off on me too
It was how he handled himself that day
He says he owes it all to Jesus
Once you feel his love that's where you'll stay
Now I agree with with my new friend and old Dan
I can feel the love and that's where I'll stay
with Jesus by my side I am a new man
and I have dreams that take me far way
